About

Letter from the owner

Hello! I’m Amanda– a Kansas native, serial entrepreneur, and momma to two young girls. As a nurse, I have spent more than a decade caring for new parents and their babies, often during labor & birth, with the absolute privilege of witnessing nearly a thousand first breaths. My professional career shifted to supporting families in their homes as a postpartum doula and private practice lactation consultant in 2020.

Like many new moms, I quickly realized our culture does not prioritize growing families.

-THE BIG ISSUES-

  •  No paid family leave, forcing many parents back to work just days after a baby is born.
  • Affordable childcare, putting further strain on a growing family’s finances.
  • Isolation, due to a limited number of family-friendly spaces.
  • Rising maternal/paternal mortality rates, with suicide being the leading cause of death.

All while knowing the first 1000 days is critical to a child’s future health and development.

-THE LITTLE ISSUES-

  • Changing diapers on dirty bathroom floors.
  • Young baristas whispering how thankful they are to not have children.
  • People appalled when parents think about leaving their house with a baby, gasp!
  • Being asked to breastfeed in your car, or worse, another dirty bathroom.

I have made it my mission to bring a REAL village to Emporia and our surrounding communities. While I cannot control these big and little issues we have normalized in today’s society, I can hope when you walk through our doors, you can take a deep breath and see that our space was made for YOU!

In Gratitude,

Amanda Janzen
